Hi David,

I don't know if you remember, but I attend a 'Reformed' Church. I would like to ask you to pray for me, as I'm having a bit of confusion over spiritual matters at this time. I can't quite wrap my brain around some theological/doctrinal things, but the Lord is giving me constant assurance of His help in this area. I still need prayer, though, if you have the time. Thanks, David. I know this is a 'barrier breaking' moment in my life. [if that makes sense.]

God bless you.

Amy

Hi Amy,

Of course I remember you :o).

You are often in my prayers and more importantly you are Always in the hands of God.

Leaving a Church is seldom easy. I left my main Church and started going to a different one just recently in January.

It is probably the best move of my life. I LOVE this new Church. Im so happy and getting filled back up and am growing and fellowshipping and am very excited about the future.

I would recommend to everyone to attend at least two different Churches during the week, I do, and to change Churches from time to time. It just gives great depth to the teachings and the fellowshipping and it is easier to be of service because you learn things from one Church and can use it at the other.

And just remember you and your family can always come to Church with me :o).

God Bless You,
David

Hi David,

:) I didn't think you forgot me, but that you might not remember I said I attend a Reformed church. [or if I even told you.]

Thanks for praying, David, that means so much.

I don't agree that we should church-jump, actually. I'm learning how very important it is to be in real fellowship with our church family--which I've never had before.

Anyway, we've all [my family] been so very blessed by the church family there, and the teaching is superb and 'meaty,' and the worship is reverent and always toward Christ and never glorying in ourselves--like so many other churches we'd been to. The first day we attended there, I said to myself: 'I'm home.' It was what I wanted and longed for: a church body that worshipped GOD! and was not full of age-segregated programs; 'busy-work' and myriad activities; hyped-up, 'seeker-friendly,' 'come-as-you-are-in-irreverent-wear, loud, rock&rolling, pitiful, 'contemporary' services. I'd had that...and didn't want it at all! I KNEW in my heart of hearts it was WRONG and ungodly stuff. So, the Lord led us down a 'funny' path to this place a little over a year ago...but now I have a couple of concerns about doctrine. [which I know the pastor will be gracious in discussing with me, because he's already let me 'pick' his brain a LOT concerning doctrine/theology.]

I'm asking the Lord to show me HIS truth about some theological questions--not the pastor's, not mine, nor anyone else's---just the Lord's. I maybe should e-mail you when I get a chance. I'm feeling pretty vulnerable at the moment, so it's hard to describe what's going on with me really--esp. in 'public.'. In any case, I sure do appreciate your prayers, David. God bless you and keep you. Amy

Ralph Waldo Emerson may have said it best:

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success."

Hi Amy,

I highly commend and respect your steadfastness.

Also I think it is totally helpful to keep in mind the book of Acts and the Psalms as these books are Loaded with Theology.

When I have discussed Theology and gotten to debate Theology/End Times at other Churches I have thought that they are missing important aspects from what is considered non-theology books. Also the Old Testament books of Moses, the first five books of the Bible are very important and of course the entire Bible is important for theology.

It is with joy in my heart that I pray for you.

God Bless you Always,

David

yes Amy all is well in my part of the country, except there have been a lot of wild fires in Oklahoma, several not to far from where I live. I live in the country with lots of trees and fires are really bad at this time of year because everything is so dry.

I will be looking forward to your email and I pray that I will be able to help you find the answers you are looking for.

Thanks Earla. Sorry I haven't e-mailed you yet. I've been so busy. Other things have also gotten complicated in this life...so it's all combining to be a pretty 'interesting' moment in time. I'm trusting the Lord to reveal His truth to me concerning all of it, though, and to work out the particulars. I'm not very good at trusting Him yet, so in that regard...this 'unraveling' might not be a bad thing, though it is painful for the moment. God bless you, Earla.

{{{David}}}

Thank you sooo much. I am glad you are praying. I need the help of friends to keep my eyes on Jesus Christ, and not on earthly things, and my family as a whole, definitely needs prayerful friends to lift us up right now. I believe that the Lord is working mightily on our behalf, but my natural bent is to view the temporal over the spiritual. In looking at the temporal, things become worrisome and a bit overwhelming actually.

I read recently that a 'cross to bear' isn't really a 'cross' if we are carrying it with doubt, desperation, etc. [something like that.] I didn't really understand what that meant, but I'm getting a clearer picture now. Also, we are to rejoice in the Lord always...and to praise Him because of Who He is, not what He does for us...and in spite of what we see and hear and feel. So, during the trials I want to rejoice and praise His holy name...and having good friends come alongside me helps me to do just that, David.

At this time, I am getting the smallest glimpse into what God must feel when we sin against Him. [small, because I'm sure I can't understand the depth of His grief for us in totality.] Here is where: 'our righteousness is as filthy rags' is coming to really mean something to me. That not make much sense, but my spiritual eyes are being opened to my own depravity and sinfulness as I look at another's sin against me. Also, I am seeing once again how relying on people is faulty thinking, though I do less of it than I did a few years ago! Praise God for that! :)

As the Lord works this out, I want to rely solely on Him for all things, but in the flesh, I tend to worry and also to make plans [that most likely go against God's ways] to make myself 'comfortable.' It's 'funny' how when one aspect of life falls apart, that it seems another area disintegrates right along with it. I have been praying specific prayers, but I wasn't sure how the Lord would answer them...and now I'm seeing. [and it's hard to witness!]

Theologically speaking, I am unclear where to plant my feet at the moment, where once I was sure. That is a bit scary for me, but I am trusting the Lord to re-build a foundation on His truth. So two major areas of my life are pretty much 'up-in-the-air,' so to speak. When I started this thread it was one...but the other came about right after.

Ugh. I should've e-mailed you. I don't want to discuss this too much in public. I will try to e-mail you soon. Anyway, the Lord knows my life and will use your honest prayers to tend to it in His way. Thank you again, David. You've blessed my heart richly today. -Amy

You are very welcome. I am sorry it took so long to read this. I had a cold all week so I got way behind with posting and barely kept up in my own forum due to the runny nose and worse eyes.

I hope all is going well for you!

sorry to hear about your cold, hope you are feeling much better now.

As far as the fires here in Oklahoma, the next day it rained and that helped a lot in getting them under control. \o/ Praise Jesus
